Erin's Law

Erin's Law

Senate Bill 288, enacted by Ohio’s 134th General Assembly, outlines the updated requirements for schools and districts in Ohio to provide instruction on child sexual abuse, dating violence, and sexual violence prevention.

Ohio school districts are required by law to provide the following.

  • For students in grades K-6, developmentally appropriate instruction in sexual abuse prevention each year
  • For students in grades 7-12, developmentally appropriate instruction in dating violence and sexual violence prevention

In addition to student instruction, the legislation requires in-service training for school personnel and notification to parents and legal guardians.
